I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm a shy person, but I lack a certain charisma that I envy in others. I realized that in order to obtain this charisma and other character traits that I lack, I would need to step out of my comfort zone and do something that embarrassed me a bit. So after a lot of thinking I started really getting excited about this blog. I knew it was something I wanted to do. It wasn't long after that before I heard the phrase "To Fuse is Richer Than to Separate." (I'll explain more about that later) I immediately knew that would be the name of my blog. I got so excited that I began planning out episodes and telling all my friends.
I had the best of intentions to get it started, but things continued to get in my way. After about a month, I sort of lost the zeal that I originally had. It wasn't until just this week that I realized that unless I just set aside time to get it done, it would probably never happen. And now that it's begun, I'm committed. So I invite you all to join in the conversation. Tell me what's on your mind. And together we'll expand our intellect and build our character.
Please Comment: What do you do to build intellect and character?
I try to read great literature - you might think it's kind of snobby or just plain dull, but there was this study that I thought was really interesting:

I think *challenging* ourselves is the best way to stretch out in all kinds of ways, and not just by reading, but by exploring complex music, art, literature, and by "seeking out good things" which God has inspired man with in every generation.
Thanks for your comment Bret. That's an interesting study. I've never considered myself much of a reader, but I've been trying to get into more books. I've lately been reading "The Last Lecture" which is actually part of why I finally sat down and recorded this vlog. Also I've been listening to the Enders Game series on audio. Those books invoke a lot of thought.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said, "I needed to be part of the conversation, not just a listener." I feel the same way which is why I am starting (or intending to start) some sort of vlogging or blogging. Except I'm planning to primarily use facebook (could that be called flogging?)
ReplyDeleteI also liked how you compared this to a first date with the internet, ha ha.
I vote 'B'.
I'm not going to take the I.Q. test, it scares me to have my intelligence quantified.
I look forward to more internetainment, especially coming from someone of your charactellect.
That is an interesting comment you made about having your intelligence quantified. Can you expound more on your reasons why you don't want to take the test? I think I understand what you mean. Like I mentioned in the video, the fact that I'm not good at math, brought down my score, but I don't feel that being bad at math necessarily brings down my true intelligence to that degree if at all.
DeleteI got a 121. I was a little disappointed, even though that's still above average. But also I'm a good friend and I work hard and sometimes I'm creative, so I'm fine with a 121 IQ. And I guess it's good I wish I was smarter, because it means I'll keep trying to get smarter.
ReplyDeleteOh, and did you know the kid who plays Luke on Modern Family got a 150? That blows my mind.
